Taking this course is like winning a lottery ticket, I just take this course because I feel like it, but then I won 10 million dollars. Well, not real money, but the skill and techniques I learn in this course is like wining 10 million. When I look back, I would think, did those objects actually come under my hand? Because I can never know how to if I didn't take this course. I remember before, whenever I am bored I would search up tutorials of complex origami and follow with it. It is fascinating for me to see a piece of paper turns into cut animals or beautiful flowers. It is also fascinating to see an object that only exist in digital world that come into this world. Start with building sample shapes in Tinker-card, end with building our own object. It is a journey that I can never forget. 

 Huge thank to all the teachers, advisers, and classmates.

3D-Printed Object: Chess Set

    For this mile stone project, I designed a mechanic chess set. The main mechanic place of this chess set is there is a part of the chess will drop down when you pick the chess up. When you pick up a chess and move it, it can possibly be the chess has been defeated. To emphasize on that, I designed the drop down part like another face of the chess characters, and make them look like crying. This shows more on the King and Queen, because they have the extend part on top like crown. The concept behind it would make more sense in this case. The peer to peer sessions helped a lot. I got feedback  on improving the designs. PaperCraft: The Final

Ha! Finally! I finished this project! Okay! First thing first, the photos--- (some rendered pictures) The final 3D paper model turn out great in my opinion. Since I am doing a Chinese knot for the project, of cause I choose the colour red for the main colour. At the same time, on the critique, we mentioned adding a 2d element on the model. And then I thought about a dragon pattern. I also document my process together. Not only because I think they are neat, but also it help me to go back to check my notes. I have a version on normal letter paper for me to take notes and photocopy, and a version on the card-stock just for cutting. Since it is 2d, just to help me visualize, I hand drew those on paper. For the start, I am not sure how is it going to turn out, so I cut out the shape on white card-stock and tried on my prototype that on last post. Surface Design Study: research and design

For this milestone project, we are asked to design a surface that inspired by the surface design in real life. And here are some research that I did in the past 2 weeks Picture 1- Picture 4 Some of the architecture pictures in my photo album. Picture 5 - Picture 6 The bus seats from bus number 300 and bus number 88 During the scavenger hunt, I was originally looking at different surface design in my daily life. However, I feel restricted to take inspiration from other surface designs. So I changed my mind and took inspirations from the environment and the architecture.  The primary process is analyzing significant characteristics of the picture and exaggerating them to design a surface.
