Papercraft Objects: First Prototype

This week, we got into the stage of first prototype.

So for my piece, I stated with printing the blue print of my paper 3d object. I put notes on each of them so I know which part of the object I am making. Also help me to think what is the easiest way to put them together since my piece is a complete close object. So it would be hard to stick all surface together when I close to the end.

There are 10 pages in total, and I made some minor mistakes, but that's the problem that I can fix on my final piece.

Next, I cut them all up and separated according to the colour that I gave them in Rhino.

Which are yellow, blue and white. I am going to put together white and blue first since they are the main structure of the piece. And the yellow part represents the corners.

I start to put some of the part together because I am way too excited so I want to see how is it going to turn out. However, I put them together too fast, so it was really hard for me to put the part (upper left-lower right direction) in the middle later.
Also, I found a trick to put on the corners which is left a side of the yellow/blue open so my finger can go inside to help the glueing.

And this is how it turned out!

For me, I think it turned out great, and it is exactly the size and the shape that I imagine to be. For further development, I would love to add colour to it and maybe add decorations of dragon on the surface in 2d. Also, from the process that I actually made it,  I realize some part that actually will be helpful for glueing if I change some positions of the tabs.
